Save The Cecil B. Moore Library Town Hall Meeting 3.11.25

Community members, neighbors, developers and more gathered at Wayland Baptist Church to discuss the potential to save the Cecil B. Moore Library, a historic yet underfunded education site in the burgeoning North Philly Sharswood-Peacetown neighborhood. Several residents gave testimony to voice their concerns that the proposals provided via Council-member Jeffrey Young were seeking to sell out their community resource in favor of yet another expensive housing project. The persistent opposition resulted in a near immediate 180 of the previous declaration that the Library would not operate pending repairs. on Thursday, 3/13, just two days after the meeting, the city reopened the Library as its budget shortfalls are remedied.
