Photostory: Students and community march for Blankenburg
West Philly’s Blankenburg Elementary community came together for an afternoon of expression for the 10th annual Blankenburg Parade. This year’s event precedes the impending closure of 18 schools across the city, (Blankenburg among them) a decision that the school district board voted for whilst hidden from the public. Serving students K-8, Blankenburg administrators partner annually with Spiral Q, a community arts organization in the Parkside neighborhood to create memorable puppet parade figures and signs to allow the students a platform to amplify their voices.
