Protestors boycott Jaffa, Laser Wolf in support of Palestine

Recently on August 29, Philadelphia Organizers for Palestine and passersby’s gathered in front of Laser Wolf and Jaffa Bar in North Philly to demonstrate their commitment to boycotting restaurants associated with the ongoing genocide in Palestine. The demonstration aimed to express solidarity with the Palestinian people and emphasize how consumer spending can impact these global events.

Featuring instruments, chants, and speakers who discussed the importance and efficacy of boycotts, and the intersection of local and international struggles. While the demonstration caused some disruption for restaurant patrons, organizers had a clear message  focused on anti-Zionism, specifically addressing the owners' material and ideological support for Israel and the continuous appropriation of Palestinian culture, food, symbols and land. Speakers emphasized that Solomonov profits over the bodies of Palestinians. However, the recipes tell a different story as does the rubble in a land historically Palestinian.

Organizers with Boycott Cook N Solo stressed that this local disruption is minor compared to the onslaught currently faced by the people of Palestine. A speaker shared “On March 27, 2025 CookNSolo were given the Jewish National Fund’s tree of life award, its highest honor for their ‘steadfast’ commitment to Israel…The Jewish national fund is widely recognized as one of the organizations most responsible for historical dispossession of Palestinians it was founded in 1901 and its a quasi governmental organization that has advocated for the ethnic cleansing of Arabs from Palestine.”
